Russian Chamber of Accounts stepped down as INTOSAI Chair

As early as on 1 March 2022, NIK President Marian Banaś called on INTOSAI to terminate cooperation with the SAI of Russia which was INTOSAI Chair at that time. That was an unprecedented step because the Russian SAI was the Chair of INTOSAI when the war broke out.

On 3 March 2022, the Governing Board of EUROSAI, organisation associating European SAIs, suspended its relations with the Supreme Audit Institutions of Russia and Belarus. On 4 March 2022, the Chamber of Accounts of the Russian Federation resigned as Chair of INTOSAI. On 11 March 2022, the President of the European Court of Accounts who chairs the EU SAIs Contact Committee condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine and communicated that the Committee members decided to suspend any cooperation with the SAI of Russia and the SAI of Belarus.
