Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the EU Member States and the European Court of Auditors (ECA) developed a COVID-19 database on the Contact Committee website. It gathers any information about the pandemic which continues to be a threat to the EU citizens’ lives. There are also links to the European Commission website addressing the pandemic response and to the website of a British non-profit organisation including a global overview of coronavirus-related issues per country, including Poland (there are also data about vaccinations, deaths or performed tests).
Consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic included not only overloaded public healthcare systems in the EU Member States but also a rapid economic slowdown. The ways how the governments handle those situations are audited by the EU SAIs on an on-going basis. In 2020 and 2021, they published over 150 audit reports addressing measures taken at the country and EU levels. One can find there more than 50 reports of audits carried out in 2020 by 11 EU SAIs, and summaries of 17 audit reports.
In subsequent stages there will be information about 2021 and 2022 audit reports – so stay current with the Contact Committee website.
Contact Committee (CC) is an autonomous and independent assembly. This apolitical body associates Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the EU Member States and the European Court of Auditors (ECA). CC is tasked with the exchange of knowledge and experience about auditing EU funds and other issues related to the European Union. It provides mutual support, as well as initiates and coordinates efforts taken jointly by SAIs within the European Union.
